Aaron Murray will get his first start for the Atlanta Legends.

The former Georgia quarterback will be start against Memphis Express in the Alliance of American Football league game at Georgia State Stadium Sunday. Murray replaced Matt Simms last Sunday after the starting quarterback was injured in a 14-11 road win at the Arizona Hotshots.

The Legends’ injury report listed Simms as did not practice with an injured finger on Wednesday. The team announced via social media that Murray would start on Thursday.

Murray completed 20 of 33 passes for 254 yards while also leading the Legends (1-2) off the bench. He also had 54 rushing yards on seven attempts last week.

The starting quarterback for Memphis is former Georgia player Zach Mettenberger, who lost the competition with Murray in spring practice and eventually finished his career at LSU.
