Sean Gluth, a firefighter at station 3 in Barrow County, completed the 47th Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race on Monday while wearing his full equipment: helmet, jacket, pants, boots and tank, while carrying an American flag for the Fourth of July.

All together, the gear weighs 45 pounds.

He has run in the gear in several Peachtrees, but said the heat and humidity this year made it “pretty rough.”

Gluth finished the 10K course in one hour, 25 minutes.

He said the key is just to get used to the gear.

He runs in it and does cardiovascular exercises while wearing it to stay in shape for his job and the race.
