With the Falcons set to open the regular season against the Saints on Sunday the team is warning fans about several traffic disruptions around the Georgia Dome because of construction of the new stadium.

The construction, just south of the Dome, eliminated four parking lots with a total of about 1,300 spaces. The Falcons said parking spaces are sold out at the Dome and Georgia World Congress Center on Sunday and encouraged fans to consider taking MARTA to the game.

Portions of Mitchell St. and Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. are closed because of the stadium construction, resulting in detours.

In addition, the Georgia Department of Transportation’s project to replace the bridge on Spring Street resulted in the closing of Spring between MLK Dr. and Marietta St. The usual detour for that construction includes two-way traffic for a portion of Centennial Olympic Park Dr., but on Sunday that street will be one-way only between Marietta St. and MLK Dr.
