Many college football fans criticized Wisconsin’s non-conference opponents a season ago, and pointed to its lack of quality opponents as a reason the Badgers should not have made the College Football Playoff, which they ultimately didn’t. Wisconsin played Utah State, Florida Atlantic and BYU and won by an average score of 43-10.
Now an ESPN.com reporter is carping on the Georgia Bulldogs bill of 2018 non-conference opponents and likening them to Wisconsin’s 2017 foes.
ESPN.com college football writer Heather Dinich appeared on the Paul Finebaum show last Friday where she said the Bulldogs won’t have a quality non-conference game to fall back on if they lose as SEC game.
Georgia’s only loss in the regular season last year came against Auburn, however they had a good quality win at Notre Dame to help bolster their resume. They also got revenge in the SEC Championship against the Tigers.
While the SEC is alsways tough to navigate through -- Georgia will be on the road against LSU in the fall -- the Bulldogs non-confernce foes shouldn’t give the team much of a challenge. Georgia will host Austin Peay, Middle Tennessee State Massachusetts, and in-state rival Georgia Tech this season.
