Has Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron decided to punt away his romance with the former Miss Alabama USA?

That depends on who you ask.

Radar Online reported Friday that McCarron and his girlfriend, Auburn grad Katherine Webb, are calling it quits.

“Yes [they’ve broken up],” Webb’s mother, Leslie Webb, told Radar. “Katherine’s just trying to stay real busy.”

But does mom really know what's up? The beauty queen and model posted her response Friday morning on her Twitter page.

“Don’t believe everything you hear…smh,” Webb posted on the social media site.

The couple’s romance went public in January, thanks to ESPN announcer Brent Musberger. During the Crimson Tide’s national championship game vs. Notre Dame, Musberger pointed out Katherine Webb in the stands.

“That’s A.J. McCarron’s girlfriend,” Musberger said during the broadcast. “You quarterbacks, you get all the good-looking women. What a beautiful woman. Wow.”

Since then, Katherine Webb worked briefly for “Inside Edition” and appeared on the reality diving show “Splash.” Meanwhile, McCarron is hoping to lead Alabama to its third consecutive BCS title.

The Crimson Tide will host Colorado State in Saturday’s home opener in Tuscaloosa. No word on whether a certain fan will be in the stands this time.
