The Phoenix Mercury’s Diana Taurasi needs 29 more points to become the WNBA’s all-time leading scorer.

Taurasi, who is averaging 18.6 points per game, is expected to break the record on Friday night when the Mercury take on the Chicago Sky at 10 p.m. EST.

The reigning WNBA leading scorer is former Houston Comets and Los Angeles Sparks star Tina Thompson who totaled 7,488 career points.

Friday’s matchup of the Mercury and the Sky will air on ESPN3 and NBA TV.

If Taurasi falls short of the record on Friday night, ESPN3 will air the Mercury’s next game on Sunday against the Sparks.
