Wofford running back Ray Smith stunned Georgia Tech with a 92-yard touchdown run to give the Terriers a 9-7 lead with 51 seconds remaining in the half.

Tech had Wofford pinned deep and appeared to be on course to get the ball back on a punt, but Smith ran straight up the middle for the score. It set a record for longest run by a Tech opponent, breaking the previous mark held by Joel Arrington of Duke, who had an 83-yard run against the Yellow Jackets in 1959.
