Georgia outfielder Johnathan Taylor, paralyzed in a collision with a teammate during a game in March, cracks a joke during rehab at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta.

After surgery to stabilize his spine at St. Mary's Hospital in Athens, Taylor was admitted to the Shepherd Center on March 11. He had little use of his arms and still was connected to a respirator.

Taylor's mother, Tandra Taylor, helps him during his rehab. After his injury, she put aside her work as an accountant, with a side job running a cleaning service, to move into a Shepherd residence and oversee his development.

Physical therapist Myrtice Atrice works with Taylor during his rehab to try to help him gain strength and re-learn how to move around.

In therapy, using his increasingly reliable arms for support, Taylor is able to sit upright on a padded table. He thus far has maintained much of his muscle tone and is constantly pushing for extra time on the center's exercise equipment.
