As it turns out, Mike Bobo is not Georgia’s only offensive casualty for the Belk Bowl. Wide receiver/kick-return specialist Isaiah McKenzie did not make the trip for disciplinary reasons.

“Isaiah will not play in this game,” Georgia coach Mark Richt said following the Bulldogs’ practice Friday at Charlotte Country Day School. “Isaiah has got a one-game suspension. It’s not an academic-eligibility issue. It’s not drug issue or anything like that. It’s more in-house, taking-care-of-business issue. He’ll be back in January, but he’ll miss this game.”

Georgia will miss him The freshman from Miami proved to be a dynamic kick returner in his first season with the Bulldogs. He averaged 12.1 yards on 19 punt returns, including two for touchdowns. He also returned 11 kickoffs for an average of 28.1 yards and had a 90-yard TD return as well. As a receiver, McKenzie played in 12 games with three starts and had six receptions and seven runs for an average of 11.1 yards per touch.

Sony Michel, McKenzie’s high school teammate at American Heritage High, will assume kickoff return duties. Sophomore Reggie Davis will take over punt-return responsibilities. Davis has 11 for 95 yards (8.6 average) this season.
