Georgia made it official Tuesday, announcing the hire of Tracy Rocker as the Bulldogs’ defensive line coach three days after it was widely reported.

Rocker is a former All-America defensive lineman at Auburn and a member of the College Football Hall of Fame. He most recently was defensive line coach for the NFL’s Tennessee Titans.

“Tracy certainly has a name familiar to all who follow SEC football,” Georgia coach Mark Richt said in a statement announcing the hire. “He was one of the greatest defensive players in SEC history and has become one of the country’s outstanding defensive line coaches. He’s been at several very successful programs as a player and coach, and we’re fortunate to have him joining our football staff.”

Rocker was on the Titans staff in 2011-13. He has 17 years experience as a college coach, including stints at Auburn, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Cincinnati, Troy and West Alabama.
