At No. 10 was Garrison Hearst, who led the Dogs in rushing during his three seasons in Athens and finished third in the Heisman Trophy balloting in 1992.

Dominant defensive lineman Bill Stanfill, the 1968 Outland Trophy winner, ranks seventh. Stanfill was a Super Bowl champion with the Miami Dolphins ...

Matt Stinchcomb, a two-time All-America offensive lineman, ranks sixth on the list.

Champ Bailey ranks No. 3 on the list after excelling in all three facets of the game - offense, defense and special teams - for the Bulldogs.

Ben Zambiasi led UGA in tackles from 1975-77. The No. 9 player on the list later earned his stripes in the Canadian Football League, where he was inducted into the league's Hall of Fame in 2004.

... along with Jake Scott, the No. 8 player on the list and the MVP of Super Bowl following Miami's unbeaten season in 1972. While in Athens, Scott led the SEC in interceptions in 1967 and '68.

Two-time All-America defensive back Terry Hoage ranked fourth. The college football hall of famer finished fifth in the Heisman balloting in 1983.

... and defensive lineman David Pollack, the No. 2 player on the list. The 2004 SEC player of the year earned a host of national awards during his time in Athens.

Herschel Walker, the 1982 Heisman Trophy winner, heads the list at No. 1. There have only been two UGA players that were three-time All-Americans - Walker ...

It's a debate that never seems to end - who are the best players in UGA football history? The latest discussion comes from Athlon, the sports magazine which has ranked the top 10 UGA players of its era (since 1967).

At No. 5 is David Greene, who finished his tenure in Athens as the ended his college career as the winningest quarterback in college football history with 42 victories.
