It's been more than a decade since Bill Goldberg entered a ring.

But the 49-year-old onetime defensive tackle for the Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Falcons can't turn down a challenge.

Goldberg announced he is returning to WWE next Monday, following a challenge on behalf of Brock Lesnar on Monday night’s "Raw" TV show.

Goldberg was an 11th-round draft pick out of Georgia by the Los Angeles Rams in the 1990 NFL Draft. He joined the Falcons for the 1993 season.

He wrestled in the WCW, starting in 1997. Goldberg wrestled just one year in the WWE, feuding with most of its stars, including The Rock, Chris Jericho and Lesnar.

Goldberg defeated Lesnar in their only match at Wrestlemania 20 in 2004.

Lesnar hasn't missed a step, continuing to take part in WWE events and a side career as a mixed-martial arts fighter in the UFC.

Why a rematch now?

Goldberg and Lesnar are featured in this year's WWE 2K17 video game.
