Georgia will play its football season opener under the lights on the SEC Network.

That information was released Thursday as ESPN announced its SEC schedule for the first three weeks.

The Bulldogs will open their season against Vanderbilt at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 31 in Nashville.

The UGA home opener is set for 4 p.m. Sept. 7 against Murray State on ESPN2. Legendary former Georgia coach Vince Dooley will be honored that day when the field at Sanford Stadium gets the name Vince Dooley Field.

The Bulldogs’ third game of the season, against Arkansas State on Sept. 14, will kickoff at noon on either ESPN or ESPN2.

Georgia will play Notre Dame on Sept. 21. Time and TV information has not been announced, but CBS revealed Wednesday that the network plans an SEC doubleheader that day, with games at 3:30 p.m. and 8 p.m., a possible indication that the Bulldogs and the Fighting Irish could play in the prime-time slot.
