Less than a half hour after the NFL draft ended Saturday evening, former Georgia Tech defensive end Antonio Simmons had his shot.

Simmons agreed to an undrafted free-agent contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Simmons’ Atlanta-based agent Ryan Rubin said in a text message.

Simmons wowed scouts at Tech’s pro day by running the 40-yard dash in 4.48 seconds and doing 30 bench-press reps of 225 pounds. It likely led teams to review his game video, where he showed potential as an edge rusher with speed and explosiveness from the end position. Simmons had 5.5 sacks this past season, most on the team. His 12 quarterback hurries in his junior season were second most in the ACC.
