Georgia Tech has scheduled to play football newcomer Kennesaw State in 2021. The game continues Tech’s plan to schedule non-conference games against nearby and in-state opponents including Georgia Southern this year and Mercer in 2016.

Kennesaw State will field a team for the first time in 2015 and has begun practicing. The team is coached by former Tech assistant Brian Bohannon. Tech’s athletic department also announced its FCS opponent for 2015, Alcorn State, a historically black university in Mississippi. It is perhaps best known as the alma mater of late NFL great Steve McNair. The season opener will be played on a Thursday night, Sept. 3. The two teams have never met.

Tech also moved its scheduled home-and-home with Ole Miss from 2017 and 2018 to 2022 (Atlanta) and 2023 (Oxford, Miss.). Tech is expected to play Tennessee in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff game in 2017.
