Georgia Tech’s recruiting class for 2020 grew to seven when linebacker Jared Behrens of Virginia gave his commitment to play for coach Geoff Collins. Behrens made his announcement Saturday on Twitter.

Behrens, who helped Flint Hill (Oakton, Va.) win state championships in each of the past two seasons, is the first linebacker to join the class.

Behrens is a high-school junior, but he will reclassify and graduate early. Behrens is listed at 6-foot-2 and 210 pounds and has been timed in the 40-yard dash in 4.6 seconds. Those measurables and his highlight videos indicates that he has the qualities of length and speed that Collins craves in recruits. Behrens also is said to be highly intelligent.

Tech was Behrens’ first and apparently only scholarship offer, which he announced March 5. He made a visit to campus in early April and was at the team’s scrimmage Saturday. N.C. State and Virginia also have showed interest.
