Georgia Tech signee Josh Okogie chose play for the Yellow Jackets and coach Josh Pastner, Okogie’s high-school coach said Tuesday.

“Josh feels comfortable enough to want to stay with the new coach,” Shiloh High coach Kim Rivers said.

Okogie, a three-star guard from Shiloh High, had been leaning toward staying at Tech, but wanted to meet Pastner’s assistant coaches first. Ultimately, his original preference for Tech won out.

“He didn’t want to go anywhere,” Rivers said.

Okogie, named first-team all-state in Class AAAAAA and the Gwinnett County player of the year by the Gwinnett Daily Post, will join forward Christian Matthews from Fort Washington, Md., as part of the freshman class. At last check, Wheeler High forward Romello White was undecided about staying with Tech or asking for a release from his letter of intent.

With Tech graduating 63 percent of its minutes played and 76 percent of its points scored, keeping the class that signed in November with coach Brian Gregory has been a priority for Pastner.
