Georgia Tech guard Shamire Devine could have played last year as a true freshman, but did not due to an injury and weight issues. Thus far in camp, the 370-pound redshirt freshman from Tri-Cities High has made fellow guard Shaquille Mason take notice.

Mason said that Devine has taken a big leap from last season and is “finally realizing what he can do” with his ability. His improved footwork is an example.

“Run blocking, he’s getting his two feet down on the ground quick,” Mason said. “He’s moving guys out there, so he’s really using the tools that he has.”
