SEC East title nets $600K in bonuses for Smart, UGA assistants

SEC East champion Georgia is 8-1 (6-1 in the SEC) heading into Saturday's 7 p.m. home game against Auburn.

Winning the SEC East and advancing to the conference championship game has triggered some hefty bonuses for UGA coach Kirby Smart and his assistant coaches.

According to the Athens Banner-Herald, Smart is set to receive a $100,000 bonus and the 10 assistants will receive combined bonuses totaling another $500,000 after clinching the division title last weekend at Kentucky.

Smart and his assistants will collect another $300,000 by winning the SEC Championship, according to the report.  No. 5 Georgia will face No. 1 Alabama in the SEC title game Dec. 1 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
