With Georgia Tech wide receiver DeAndre Smelter unable to play due to his torn ACL, the Yellow Jackets’ other receivers will bear the responsibility to compensate.

“We’ve got to step up as a unit and do things that ‘Dre’ was able to do by himself pretty much,” wide receiver Darren Waller said. “We’ve got to do that as a unit.”

Waller will likely start with Micheal Summers. Corey Dennis will likely see playing time, as could Ricky Jeune. Waller has had his moments this season as a pass-catcher and has caught passes in seven consecutive games, including a seven-yard touchdown pass against Georgia Saturday. It won’t just be Smelter’s receiving skill that Tech will miss; he was also a dedicated blocker in the running game.
