A day after deeming his offense's performance as "awful," Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson saw the pendulum swing the other way Thursday.

“(Thursday), the offense worked the defense,” he said. “So (Wednesday), the defense (worked the offense). … That’s football practice.”

To Johnson, there was nothing in particular that the offense did in the Yellow Jackets’ seventh practice of the preseason.

“It’s just practice,” Johnson said. “Concentration, execution.”

Johnson said starting positions have yet to be determined “until we get through a scrimmage or two. It’s all fluid.”

Tech is scheduled to scrimmage for the first time this preseason on Saturday morning.

The competition at kicker continues, where Shawn Davis, Brenton King, Cliff Gandis and Wesley Wells are competing for the No. 1 job.

In 11-on-11 extra-point tries, “they all made all the kicks,” Johnson said.
