Georgia Tech added a fourth signee to its 2019 recruiting class Wednesday as defensive end Mike Lockhart of Birmingham, Ala., announced his decision on signing day to attend Tech.

Lockhart was choosing between Tech, North Carolina and Mississippi State. Lockhart, a three-star prospect, is an unusual recruit in that he didn’t start playing football until his senior year. He played basketball through his senior season but quickly gained recruiting attention at Huffman High with his size (6-foot-4 and 265 pounds) and speed. He originally committed to UAB, but withdrew his offer later.
