Georgia Tech guard Ty Marshall was named first-team All-ACC Monday by the league’s coaches, becoming the first women’s basketball player in school history to be named first-team All-ACC twice.

“She will leave our program as arguably the best player to ever play here,” coach MaChelle Joseph said in a statement.

Forward Kaela Davis was named to the All-ACC second team and the all-freshman team.

Marshall was also named to the all-defensive team for the second year in a row. Marshall is third in the ACC in scoring at 19.6 points per game, leads the league in steals at 2.7 per game and is eighth in rebounding at 7.6 per game. Earlier in the season, she became Tech’s all-time leading scorer, passing Kisha Ford. Tech is pushing for Marshall to be named the team’s first All-American. Several Tech players, including Marshall last year, have earned honorable mention All-America status.

Davis leads all ACC freshmen with 18.6 points per game and broke Tech’s freshman scoring record, held by Karen Lounsbury.

Tech lost to Duke in the ACC tournament quarterfinals Friday in Greensboro, N.C. The Yellow Jackets are expected to receive their seventh NCAA tournament berth in eight years when the field is announced next Monday.
