While Georgia Tech’s defense largely outplayed Georgia Southern in the first half, the Yellow Jackets did continue a trend they’d just as soon stop.

For the third game in a row, the Jackets gave up a touchdown play covering more than 60 yards. Against Wofford, it was a 92-yard touchdown run. Tulane scored on a 61-yard pass play. Saturday, Georgia Southern’s Matt Breida took a toss on 3rd-and-7 and ran 69 yards for the touchdown.

The Wofford touchdown, the longest ever given up by Tech at Bobby Dodd Stadium, was also on a third-and-long. Georgia Southern averaged 6.2 yards per play in the half. Without the run, which was more than half of the Eagles’ 130 yards in the first half, the average was 3.1 yards per play.
