What to know: Carpenter was one of four recruits to go on an official visit to Georgia Tech over the weekend of Jan. 28 and commit. Carpenter was the sixth defensive back committed to Tech's 2017 signing class. He was listed as an athlete by recruiting services, but was recruited by Tech as a wide receiver and defensive back. Carpenter played safety and wide receiver at Long County.

WHAT HE SAID

On his official visit (Jan. 28) to Tech: "It was really good. I got to bond with a couple of players and talk with the coaches. I just had a really good time."

On when he started questioning if he wanted to stay with Central Florida: "I started second-guessing, I don't really know, it was sometime during football season I started to look around more and Georgia Tech was just always there up in the picture."

On what he's most excited about: "I'm most excited about playing with the competition. I'm ready to play some of my teammates and ready to get down and hopefully bring a championship to Atlanta."
