Georgia Tech linebacker Emanuel Bridges became the third player to announce his plans to transfer in the past week. He made the declaration Sunday from his Twitter account.
Bridges, from Newnan High, was one of the more sought-after members of the Yellow Jackets’ 2016 signing class, having also received scholarship offers from Michigan State, Mississippi, Penn State, Tennessee and Wisconsin, among others.
“After careful thought and consideration, I am announcing my decision to transfer from Georgia Tech,” Bridges said in a statement.
Bridges went on to thank family, friends, teammates Tech fans for their support, and thanked Tech coaches for the opportunity to come to Tech.
“This has been a difficult decision, but I wish nothing but the best to my teammates and Georgia Tech football in the future,” Bridges wrote.
Bridges follows B-back Marcus Marshall and cornerback Dorian Walker, who also made announcements of their plans to transfer Wednesday.
Bridges has all four years of eligibility remaining, but would have to sit out another year if he were to transfer to another FBS school. He could play immediately at an FCS institution.
