Georgia Tech made the top-10 list for Gardner-Webb wing player Jose Perez, who entered the transfer portal April 18.

Perez, who has two seasons of eligibility remaining, released his list Sunday. BYU, DePaul, Illinois, Iowa State, Marquette, Memphis, Minnesota, New Mexico and St. John’s are the other nine contenders. Perez, listed at 6-foot-5 and 200 pounds, led the Runnin’ Bulldogs in rebounding and assists and was second in scoring as a freshman, when they won the Big South and played in the NCAA tournament. That season, he scored 12 points and had eight assists with four rebounds in a December 2018 upset over Tech at McCamish Pavilion. He scored 19 in Gardner-Webb’s first-round tournament loss to eventual national champion Virginia.

As a sophomore, his averages in each category were all highest on the team (15.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists), although he played in 22 of 32 games and reportedly left the team at the end of the season for personal reasons.

Tech coach Josh Pastner has one scholarship remaining for the 2020-21 academic year.
