Georgia linebacker Brenton Cox has former high school teammates and friends at Georgia Tech, but if he ends up transferring, it doesn't appear that Tech is a likely destination for the former five-star prospect from Stockbridge High.

It's believed that Tech coach Geoff Collins and his staff will not pursue Cox, who was reportedly dismissed from the team at Georgia. Cox entered his name into the NCAA transfer database Monday, a person familiar with the situation confirmed.

At Stockbridge, Cox played with Yellow Jackets wide receiver Marquez Ezzard and defensive end Kelton Dawson.
