Georgia State will establish its first athletics hall of fame and the inaugural class will inducted on Oct. 3, which is the homecoming game for football against Liberty.

An election committee was formed in the spring and will select the first class. Fans can nominate candidates by Sept. 1 by filling out a form on www.georgiastatesports.com.

As many as 10 people will be honored in each of the first two years. After that, the number of inductees won’t exceed five.

The Hall of Fame will be housed within the Sports Arena.

The permanent hall of fame committee members are Awilda Ragland (director of athletics designee), Christina Million (associate vice president of alumni affairs), Mike Holmes (associated athletics director for communications) and Ken Higa (Panther Athletic Club chairperson).

The at-large positions for the inaugural year are held by:

Jim Adams, Renee Bazemore, Carol Cohen, Dave Cohen, Rankin Cooter, Sherman Day, Ed Gadrix, Martin Harmon, John Krafka, Jim Stark, Mable Thomas, Mac Williams and Travis Williams.
