Georgia-Georgia Tech: TV, online, radio information

Here's a look at the last five games in the Clean, Old Fashioned Hate rivalry.

Georgia is headed to the SEC Championship game, and Georgia Tech continues in developmental mode. With one weekend left in the regular season, it’s time again for “Clean Old-Fashioned Hate.”

The Bulldogs and Yellow Jackets will convene at noon Saturday on the surface of Grant Field to again display their hatred for each other, and the teams haven’t met with such seeming disparity since 1990. That was the year that Tech finished 11-0-1 and shared a national championship. Georgia finished the season 4-7. The Jackets defeated Georgia 40-23 in Athens that year.

This season also is reminiscent of 1980. That was Bill Curry’s first season at Tech, and the Jackets finished 1-9-1. That was Herschel Walker’s first season at Georgia, and the Bulldogs finished 12-0 to win the national championship. Georgia won 38-20 that day in Athens.

This year, No. 4 Georgia needs to win to keeps it hopes alive for a spot in the College Football Playoff. A Tech victory could trigger a party that won’t end until sometime next season, ending the Yellow Jackets’ first season for coach Geoff Collins with an upset unlike probably any other in program history.
