Georgia basketball commit Anthony "Ant Man" Edwards came out of the State Farm Arena tunnel for the 2019 McDonald's All-American Game introductions wearing a cape.
It proved a fitting entrance for he on Wednesday night for the Atlanta Holy Spirit Preparatory School star.
Moments later, the 6-foot-4 Edwards took flight for the first of his two first-half dunks, giving Bulldogs’ fans a preview of what’s expected in Athens next season.
Edwards scored 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting with three assists, two rebounds and a blocked shot two in the East’s, 115-100, win over the West in Atlanta.
Edwards showed his 3-point shooting range in the second half, draining a shot from the perimeter.
The Georgia Ant Man capped his scoring with a spinning layup in traffic, flashing the athleticism that has led to him being ranked the No. 1 shooting guard in the country.
Edwards is the highest rated of four Top 100 prospects in Coach Tom Crean’s 2019 class, a verbal commitment expected to sign along with 6-6 forward Christian Brown on April 17. Brown is ranked as the No. 60 player in the nation by ESPN.
“I became interested in Georgia the minute Tom Crean was hired,” Edwards told DawgNation on Wednesday night. “I like Coach’s energy, and you look at the players he has produced.”
Georgia already has two ESPN Top 100 signees in 6-6 forward Jaykwon Walton out of Montgomery, Ala., (No. 67) and 6-6 forward Toumani Camara (No. 96) out of Hollywood, Fla.
The Bulldogs, three days into their offseason workouts, have two more scholarships available with the announced transfers of sophomore guard Teshaun Hightower and freshman Ignas Sargiunas.
One of the Georgia’s remaining targets in the class is 6-9 McDonald’s All-American forward Precious Achiuwa, from Montverde, Fla.
Achiuwa, who is also being recruited by North Carolina and Memphis, among several others, scored 22 points to lead all scorers.
