Georgia quarterback Jake Fromm likes what he sees from his receivers, but he made it clear the Bulldogs are very much a work in progress.
“We’re still installing a lot of the offense, starting to minimize mental errors on the field,” Fromm said following Tuesday’s practice, the 10th of 15 the team is allowed by NCAA rules.
Georgia's G-Day game is at 2 p.m. April 20. Coach Kirby Smart put his team through the first of two closed scrimmages last Saturday.

“I thought we had a very good first scrimmage offensively and defensively,” Fromm said. “Today at practice it was a little hotter, a little more humid. Guys had to push through today. It’s an uphill climb, and we’re fighting our tails off right now.”
Fromm, a third-year starter, is working with a made-over receiving corps. Four of the top five pass catchers from 2018 have departed for the NFL draft.
There are no shortcuts to getting on the same page. Plenty of work has been going on, and much more is ahead.
“It really comes down to a lot of reps, watching film with those guys, seeing what they’re seeing and telling them what I’m seeing,” Fromm said. “It’s an ongoing back and forth. It’s like a conversation, and you just start it that way and keep building it.”
Fromm said he's seen a stepped-up performance from Demetris Robertson, along with Tyler Simmons and J.J. Holloman this spring.
“Speed kills, those two guys, Tyler and Demetris, they have speed that you just can’t teach, and it definitely helps those guys on the deeper routes,” Fromm said. “(Robertson) has done a great job caching the football, so has Tyler, so has JJ, the receiving corps right now is doing a really good job,
“That was the area that needed to step up and take care of the snaps that have gone on to the NFL, so that room is stepping up and they need to continue to keep moving and striving.”
