Georgia Tech wide receiver Brad Stewart is expected to play in Saturday’s game against Georgia, coach Paul Johnson said Monday following the team’s first practice in preparation for the in-state showdown.

Stewart suffered an ankle injury in the second half of the Yellow Jackets’ win over Virginia this past Saturday at Bobby Dodd Stadium and did not return to the game.

“We expect to get Brad back,” Johnson said. “We’ll see.”

A sophomore, Stewart has started every game this season for the Jackets and has become a trusted target for quarterback Justin Thomas. He has caught 15 passes for 285 yards, both third most on the team. Nine of his receptions have gone for first downs. Stewart has also returned all of the Jackets’ punts this season and is averaging 11.5 yards per return.

If Stewart can’t play, the likely starter would be Mikell Lands-Davis, who has two catches for 14 yards. First-year freshman Jalen Camp, whose playing time has increased in recent weeks, would probably move up into the rotation.
