College football's longest tenured coaches

After signing an extension, UGA's Mark Richt ranks among college football's longest tenured coaches.

Gary Pinkel, Missouri, 10 seasons (158-91-3): Pinkel has led the Tigers to seven bowl games in a decade - winning three. Pinkel - who is signed through 2015 - is the third winningest coach in Mizzou history, behind only Hall of Famers Don Faurot and Dan Devine.

Jim Grobe, Wake Forest, 10 seasons (101-100-1): The AP Coach of the Year in 2006, Grobe led the Demon Deacons to an ACC title and BCS bowl that season. He is signed on through 2016.

Mark Richt, Georgia, 11 seasons (106-37): A two-time SEC Coach of the Year (2002, 2005), Richt has lead the Bulldogs to five SEC Eastern Division titles.

Gary Patterson, Texas Christian, 11 seasons (109-30): Patterson's Horned Frogs squads have won at least 10 games in a season eight times. The 2009 AP Coach of the Year is signed on at TCU until 2018.

Kirk Ferentz, Iowa, 12 seasons (108-87): The 2002 AP Coach of the Year, Ferentz has led the Hawkeyes to two Big 10 Conference title wins. Ferentz is under contract at Iowa until 2020.

Bob Stoops, Oklahoma, 12 seasons (139-34): Stoops has led the Sooners to 11 straight bowl games, six of which were BCS Bowls. He won a national title in 2000 and was named Coach of the Year the same year. He is under contract through 2018.

Mack Brown, Texas, 13 seasons (227-113-1): The only coach in Texas history to have more than 200 wins. Brown lead the Longhorns to a BCS Championship in 2005. He is currently negotiating a contract extension that would keep him at Texas until 2020.

Bill Snyder, Kansas State, 18 seasons* (159-83-1): Snyder retired from coaching in 2005, but returned four years later to take over the helm of the Wildcats program in 2009. Snyder - who is signed on to coach through the 2013 season - has coached 33 AP All-Americans and 42 NFL Draft picks.

Frank Beamer, Virginia Tech, 24 seasons (250-120-4): The longest tenured college football coach is signed on to coach the Hokies through 2016, and upon retirement from football, will become a special assistant to the athletic director at a salary of $250,000 per year. He is currently the winningest active coach.
