Former Georgia Bulldogs' quarterback Quincy Carter's transgressions have landed him in the Arena Football league after two stints with NFL football squads.

For his NFL career, Quincy Carter appeared in 37 games and completed 542 of 960 passes for 6,337 yards, with 32 touchdown passes and 37 interceptions. Quincy has had a rocky ride since his days as a Georgia Bulldog. Starter for America's Team; failed drug tests; arrests; minor league; they have all lead him to backup on the Arena League's Kansas City Brigade.

Carter was born in Decatur and had a stellar high school football career at Southwest DeKalb High School. He led the team to a state championship in 1995.

Carter originally committed to play football at Georgia Tech, but chose to play professional baseball after he was drafted by the Chicago Cubs. Two years later, he would sign on to play football at Georgia and amass 6,447 passing yards, 606 rushing yards and 36 touchdowns over a three-year career in Athens.

The Dallas Cowboys drafted Carter with the 53rd overall pick in 2001. He started 31 times for Dallas and until last season, remained the only quarterback to lead the Cowboys to a 10-win season since Troy Aikman in 1998.

The Cowboys cut Carter during the 2004 training camp amid media reports that he failed a drug test. He entered in the NFL's substance-abuse program.

Carter signed with the New York Jets as a free agent after his release from the Cowboys. He appeared in seven games in 2004, including three starts. As a member of the Jets he was placed in the NFL's substance-abuse program and later in rehab. He officially retired from the NFL in 2005.

Carter monitors the halls at James Madison High School in Dallas under a program that provides salaried mentors for at-risk kids. Carter got involved in the program --- which aims to help its mentors get their own lives back on track while nurturing troubled youngsters --- after his arrest on a misdemeanor drug charge.

After a failed attempt in the Canadian Football League, Carter signed on with the Shreveport Battle Wings of arenafootball2, the minor league's minor league, in 2007. He was arrested on marijuana possession charges by Shreveport police in October 2007 and marked the end of his playing time, until he signed with the Arena League's Kansas City Brigade, where he is now the backup quarterback.
