Best paid college football coaches in 2013

USA TODAY compares the salaries of college football's best-paid coaches for the 2013 season.

93. Trent Miles, Georgia State: The Panthers' first-year head coach will make $510,000 with the chance for $304,500 in incentives. Georgia State is winless in its first season playing FBS football.

30. Paul Johnson, Georgia Tech: Georgia Tech's head coach since 2008, Paul Johnson will make $2,515,500 with the chance at an additional $1,025,000 in incentives this season. Johnson's contract runs through the 2016 season. He is the fifth-best paid coach in the ACC.

13. Mark Richt, Georgia: Georgia head coach Mark Richt got a raise after the 2012 season to $3,314,000. He can make an additional $1 million in bonuses. Richt, the coach at Georgia since 2001, is signed through the 2017 season. He is one of the top five SEC coaches in terms of annual compensation.

10. Charlie Strong, Louisville: After a win in the 2013 Sugar Bowl, Louisville gave its three-year coach a raise that would make him the highest paid head coach outside the SEC, Big 12 and Big Ten conferences. Strong will make $3,738,500 in 2013.

9. Kirk Ferentz, Iowa: Kirk Ferentz has coached the Hawkeyes since 1999, winning two Big Ten titles in 2002 and 2004. Ferentz, who will make $3.985 million in 2013, notched his 100th career win at Iowa last season. He is signed through 2020.

8. Brady Hoke, Michigan: Prior to landing the Wolverines' head coaching job in 2011, Brady Hoke held the same position at Ball State and San Diego State. In his first season at Ann Arbor Michigan claimed its first 10-win season since 2006 and posted a winning record in Big Ten conference play for the first time since 2007. He will earn $4.154 million in 2013.

7. Les Miles, LSU: The Tigers' head coach since 2005, Les Miles is under contract until 2017. His $4,459,363 salary for 2013 includes up to $700,000 in bonuses. The Tigers claimed the BCS National Championship title in 2007.

6. Urban Meyer, Ohio State: Urban Meyer has remained undefeated in two seasons in Columbus. Meyer signed a 6-year contract in 2011 that will pay him $4.608 this season.

5. Bob Stoops, Oklahoma: One of college football's longest tenured coaches, Bob Stoops will make $4,773,167 this season. Stoops led the Sooner the a BCS title in 2000. He is under contract through 2018.

3. Bret Bielema, Arkansas: Arkansas new coach, Bret Bielema, was the 17th best-paid coach two seasons ago while at Wisconsin. The SEC coach will make $5,158,863 at Fayetteville. The Big Ten coach of the year in 2006, Bielema went 68-24 in 7 seasons with the Badgers.

2. Mack Brown, Texas: Mack Brown's future at Texas has long been the subject of rumors and innuendos. Brown, who is currently under contract through the 2020 season, last won the national title in 2005. The Longhorn's coach since 1998, Brown will make $5,453,750 this season.

1. Nick Saban, Alabama. Saban, who has won three national titles in four years and the only coach to win national titles at two schools (LSU, 2003), has coached Crimson Tide since 2007. His total salary for 2013 is $5,545,852
