Four-star defensive tackle Jayson Jones has been committed to Alabama since July 2018, but plans to take an official visit to Georgia Tech. Jones, rated the No. 1 prospect in the state of Alabama and the No. 6 defensive tackle in the country, named the five schools that he has planned for official visits in a tweet on Saturday.

The others are Alabama, Florida, Oregon and Michigan. In December, he had listed his five official visits as Alabama, Florida, Nebraska, Michigan and “TBA.”

Jones, listed at 6-foot-6 and 340, is a rising senior at Calera (Ala.) High.

Jones’ selection of Tech as one of his five official visits followed an unofficial visit to Tech earlier in April.

Jones was recruited to Alabama by Brent Key, who was Alabama’s offensive-line coach at the time and now has taken the same title at Tech. In a tweet at the time of his commitment to Alabama, Jones thanked Jones and others “for being the best people and recruiters!”
