The college football website Saturday Down South tabs former Georgia players Brandon Miller and Isaiah Crowell among its top 10 recruiting busts of the past 10 years.
The website looked at SEC recruits ranked in the top 10 nationally over the past 10 years “yet didn’t finish their careers as hoped.”
Miller, a linebacker from Colquitt, was ranked No. 5 nationally in the 2004 recruiting class. Says SDS of Miller: “Not a terrible career, just not 5-star caliber—15 career starts.”
Miller played in one NFL game, for the Seahawks in 2008. He was on the active roster for one game with the Falcons that season but didn’t play.
Crowell, a Columbus native, was the sixth-ranked recruit and top running back in the 2011 class. His future with the Bulldogs appeared bright after the Associated Press named him SEC freshman of the year but he was dismissed from the team after he was arrested on weapons charges.
Crowell played the past two seasons for Alabama State and has declared for the 2014 NFL draft.
