Larry Scott, an assistant at the University of South Florida since 2005, has been hired as the Miami Hurricanes’ tight ends coach, a source confirmed Sunday.

Scott replaces Mario Cristobal, who was hired by UM coach Al Golden as tight ends coach and associate head coach in January but left last week to become Alabama’s offensive line coach.

Scott served in several positions at USF. He was the only assistant retained by new Bulls coach Willie Taggart from the staff of Skip Holtz, who was fired after the 2012 season.

UM begins spring practice Saturday.
