The Bulldogs and Tigers are both making their sixth appearances in the SEC championship. Auburn is 3-2, having won their last three appearances, with two resulting in a national championship berth. Georgia is 2-3, having not won the conference since 2005.

1997: Auburn lost to Tennessee, 30-29

2000: Auburn lost to Florida, 28-6

2002: Georgia defeated Arkansas, 30-3

2003: Georgia lost to LSU, 34-13

2004: Auburn defeated Tennessee, 38-28

2005: Georgia defeated LSU, 34-14

2010: Auburn defeated South Carolina, 56-17

2011: Georgia lost to LSU, 42-10

2012: Georgia lost to Alabama, 32-28

2013: Auburn defeated Missouri, 59-42
