Georgia State’s 2013 season-opening football game against Samford on Aug. 30 will kick off at 7 p.m., and all other home games during Trent Miles’ first season as coach will begin at 2 p.m.

The Panthers’ 12-game schedule, their first in the FBS and the Sun Belt Conference, includes seven home games at the Georgia Dome.

Those home games include the first visit back to Atlanta for Bobby Petrino since he left the Falcons in the 2007 season to go to Arkansas. Petrino now coaches Western Kentucky, which will visit Nov. 2 in a Sun Belt game.

Their nonconference home games are against Chattanooga (Sept. 7) and Jacksonville State (Sept. 21). Other Sun Belt home dates are versus Troy (Oct. 12, homecoming), Louisiana-Lafayette (Nov. 16) and South Alabama (Nov. 30).

“We are excited to continue our tradition of opening the season with a night game at the Georgia Dome,” GSU athletic director Cheryl Levick said. “That Friday night opener is a great way to kick off the season and the school year, and will be special for our fans to see Coach Miles and his staff in action for the first time.”

The start time for two road games have been set: West Virginia (noon, Sept. 14) and Texas State (7 p.m., Oct. 19). Other road game start times will be announced at a later date.
