GSU’s Chandon Sullivan honored as Campbell Trophy finalist
Georgia State senior cornerback Chandon Sullivan was honored Tuesday as a finalist for the 2017 William V. Campbell trophy, which is awarded to the “absolute best football scholar athlete in the nation.”
Sullivan is one of 13 finalists taken from a 181-athlete semifinalist pool. Sullivan and other finalists were recognized at the 60th annual National Football Foundation awards dinner at New York Hilton Midtown and received an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship as a member of the NFF National Scholar-Athlete Class.
Virginia linebacker Micah Kiser won this year’s honor.
Sullivan, from Winder, majors in journalism. He’s a three-time member of the CoSIDA Academic All-District with a 3.84 GPA. He’s made the All-Sun Belt team twice.
The school’s all-time leader in interceptions and passes defended, Sullivan will conclude his GSU career in the Cure Bowl against Western Kentucky on Dec. 16 in Orlando.
