He so far has won two ACC championships (and one national championship) since arriving at Florida State in 2010, but Jimbo Fisher never has been named ACC Coach of the Year.

That honor eluded him again this week when his counterpart in Saturday’s conference championship game, Georgia Tech’s Paul Johnson, won for the third time.

If Fisher was feeling any pangs of envy, he disguised them well.

“Paul is very well deserving; he’s done a heck of a job. He’s done a great job coaching,” Fisher said Tuesday night.

As to whether he feels somehow deprived for never having won that honor, Fisher just smiled and said, “That’s for everybody else. We’re just here to coach our guys and lead them to where we got to lead them to.”
