Georgia Tech athletic director Mike Bobinski recently addressed fans who are angry about the football program's direction after a 7-6 finish in 2013 and told them he's not satisfied.

Athlon Sports predicts Tech coach Paul Johnson is going to have a tough task doing any better in 2014.

In its "Early ACC Predictions" the magazine picks the Yellow Jackets to finish sixth in the Coastal division ahead of only Virginia. It was just two seasons ago that Tech won the division (after Miami self-imposed a postseason ban) but Athlon wonders if 2014 is "a make-or-break season for Paul Johnson" while noting his challenges:

"The Yellow Jackets are a team flying under the radar entering 2014 and could easily surprise in the standings. But there are a few glaring concerns. Quarterback Vad Lee transferred, leaving the talented, but inexperienced Justin Thomas under center. Three senior starters depart from the line, and running backs David Sims and Robert Godhigh have expired their eligibility. The defense made progress under first-year coordinator Ted Roof, but he will have to find replacements for end Jeremiah Attaochu, safety Jemea Thomas and cornerback Louis Young. The schedule isn't particularly kind, especially with road dates at Georgia, North Carolina, Pittsburgh and Virginia Tech."

Athlon picked Miami to win the Coastal and Florida State to repeat as Atlantic division champs.
