Georgia Tech uses big run to establish lead, holds on to beat Southern

It got close late, but Georgia Tech did what it had to do to come away with a 77-62 victory over Southern on Monday at McCamish Pavilion.

Led by guards Tadric Jackson and Josh Okogie, the Yellow Jackets (2-0) used a 19-4 run during the final eight and a half minutes of the first half to build a lead that was too much for the Jaguars (0-2) to overcome. Jackson was a big spark off the bench for Georgia Tech, putting up 20 points on eight-of-11 shooting. Okogie chipped in 18 points and also contributed four assists and four rebounds on the night.

On the defensive end center Ben Lammers made Southern second guess every drive to the rim as he swatted away nine shots to go along with his 13 points and game-high 15 rebounds.
