Photos: Hawks' 2015-16 schedule highlights

The 2015-16 schedule for the Atlanta Hawks, released by the NBA on Wednesday, includes these season matchups.

Hawks open the season at home at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27 against the Detroit Pistons.

The Hawks have eight nationally televised games this year. The first one is the Knicks home opener at Madison Square Garden on Thursday, Oct. 29. The game will be shown on TNT at 8 p.m.

The Hawks travel to Miami to square off against Dwyane Wade and the Heat at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3.

Hawks travel to Cleveland to meet LeBron James for the first time of the regular season at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21.

After signing with the Toronto Raptors during free agency, DeMarre Carroll returns to Atlanta for the first time on Dec. 2 for an 8 p.m. game time. (All of the Hawks' weeknight home games now begin at 8 p.m.) What's more, the Hawks and Raptors face each other two times in the final month of the season, which could be pivotal toward playoff seeding.

Kobe Bryant makes his, presumably, last trip to Atlanta with the Los Angeles Lakers for a matchup at 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4.

The Hawks face three tough Western Conference opponents in consecutive games during the week of Hanukkah. The stretch starts with the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday, Dec. 9 in an ESPN game. The next night they face the Oklahoma City Thunder, and then they close the week on NBA TV with a game against the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday, Dec. 12.

The Hawks tradition of playing home games on MLK Day continues as the Orlando Magic come to town on Jan. 18. The game will be shown on NBA TV at 5 p.m.

Hawks' longest road trip of the season tips off against the reigning NBA champion Golden State Warriors at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 1. Hawks will play five games on the road and return to Philips March 12.

LeBron James will make one appearance at Philips Arena during the 2015-16 NBA season. The Hawks will host the Cavaliers on Friday, April 1. The game will be shown on ESPN at 8 p.m. The Hawks will face the Cavaliers again 10 days later in Cleveland. Playoff seeding may be on the line in both games.
