Mike Muscala was named the recipient of the Jason Collier Memorial Trophy on Friday.

The reserve center in the ninth winner of the trophy, which is named for the former Hawks player who passed away in 2005. It is awarded annually to the Hawks player who best exemplifies the characteristics Collier displayed off the court as a community ambassador. Muscala has participated in many community events during this and previous years. This year he surprised several families by paying off their Christmas layaway gifts. He also provided gifts for children at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

Collier’s daughter Ella and his parents Jeff and Joyce and sister Julia were present at the award ceremony before the Hawks hosted the Bucks.

Past recipients were Josh Childress, Marvin Williams, Al Horford, Josh Smith, Zaza Pachulia, Devin Harris, Kyle Korver and DeMarre Carroll.
