Former Georgia Tech and NBA point guard Kenny Anderson was hospitalized after suffering a stroke.
Anderson, 48, suffered the stroke on Saturday.
His wife, Natasha Anderson, issued the following statement on Tuesday: “We would like to thank everyone for reaching out on behalf of Kenny. Our family is extremely grateful for all the prayers and love that we have received. We appreciate you continuing to respect our privacy as Kenny heals.”
The New York Daily News reported that Anderson is “doing well.”
Anderson played at Georgia Tech from 1989-91 after a storied high school career in New York City. He led the Yellow Jackets to the NCAA Final Four in 1990 as part of ‘Lethal Weapon 3’ with Dennis Scott and Brian Oliver.
Anderson was drafted by the New Jersey Nets with the No. 2 overall pick in the 1991 NBA draft. He spent five seasons with the Nets. In a 14-year NBA career he also played for the Charlotte Hornets, Portland Trail Blazers, Boston Celtics, Seattle SuperSonics, New Orleans Hornets, Indiana Pacers, Atlanta Hawks and Los Angeles Clippers. He was an NBA All-Star in 1994 with the Nets. He ended his playing career in Lithuania.
Anderson is currently head coach at Fisk University, an NAIA program in Nashville.
