Hawks guard John Jenkins had 15 points in an NBA Development League assignment game for Idaho Friday night. It was the first game for the Stampede for Jenkins, who assigned to the team as part of flexible assignment rule.
Jenkins, making his second D-League stint of the season, was 5 of 13 from the field, including 3 of 6 from 3-point range in 33 minutes off the bench in a 119-101 loss to the Bakersfield Jam. He added five rebounds.
The Stampede plays again tonight in a rematch with the Jam.
Also, playing a D-League game Friday was Hawks rookie Adreian Payne. The first-round draft pick scored four points for the Austin Spurs in a 112-103 loss to the Texas Legends. Payne was also assigned to the team by the flex rule. Payne is on his second stint with the Spurs after two stints with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants.
Payne was 2 of 6 from the field and had four rebounds in 15 minutes after starting at center.
The Spurs play again Saturday night at Rio Grande Valley Vipers.
