The Hawks picked up their team option on center Mike Muscala on Wednesday.

Muscala will return for a fourth season with the team at a salary of $1,015,696. It will be the final season of the rookie contract he signed in 2014.

“I’ve very excited for the opportunity next season,” Muscala wrote in a text message to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “I love the city of Atlanta and the Hawks organization. Lil’ Scrappy said it best … F.I.L.A (Forever I Love Atlanta)!!”

Muscala appeared in a career-high 60 games last season. He averaged 3.3 points and 2.0 rebounds in 9.4 minutes. He shot 50 percent from the field and 79.5 percent from the free-throw line. He had career-bests in defensive rebounds (79), assists (34), free throws made (31) and blocks (27).

The Hawks selected Muscala in the second round (No. 44 overall) of the 2013 draft out of Bucknell. He played briefly in Spain briefly before signing with the Hawks.
